Assembly Holds Hearing on Pension & Health Benefits Reform Bill

The Assembly Budget Committee heard from an array of people for and against the pension and health benefits reform bill.  Days ago Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver and Senate President Steve Sweeney reached a deal on reforms that would require public workers to pay more for health and pension benefits.  The state League of Municipalities called the reforms a welcome aid in controlling budgets on the local level.  Union leaders questioned the true saving in the reforms.
