Toll Collectors Stage Privatization Protest Rally

The Turnpike Authority Board was scheduled to vote on a privatization contract that would affect more than 700 toll collectors.  However, the head of the Turnpike Authority left today’s board meeting abruptly without taking questions from the press.  Rumors circulated that the board lacked enough votes to pass the privatization contract.  Authority officials countered saying the Commission needed more time to evaluate new information submitted by the four companies bidding on the contract.
