Loch Arbour Proposes Merging with Allenhurst

Several years ago property taxes skyrocketed in Loch Arbour when the legislature decided that residents had to pay school taxes based on the value of their home instead of a flat rate per pupil.  To send less than 12 Loch Arbour students to Ocean Township schools the average homeowners’ property taxes jumped from about 8,800 to 20,000 dollars.  To alleviate the tax burden the mayor is considering merging with another small town.
