Senate Budget Committee Conducts Higher Education Hearing

Former Governor Tom Kean, Sr. spelled out the ramifications of underfunding New Jersey’s institutions of higher education before the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee. Given the state’s fiscal challenges, Kean says he understands the state may not be able to implement all of the 70 recommendations outlined in a report by the Governor’s Higher Education Task Force. But he hopes the legislature will take action soon to approve the Governor Christie’s tool kit reforms which include changes to civil service rules and collective bargaining.
