NJ Supreme Court Hears Oral Arguments on Abbott v Burke School Funding

The State Supreme Court heard arguments today on whether the Christie administration’s school aid cuts this year violated the constitution.  Urban Schools advocate David Sciarra again asked the Supreme Court to spend more money on schools.  He based his argument on the findings of Judge Peter Doyne, who served as Special Master for the Supreme Court to gather a factual record.   With Chief Justice Rabner and Associate Justice Long having recused themselves, the five sitting justices heard former Supreme Court Justice Peter Verniero argue the state’s case.
