State Redistricting Commission Approves Legislative District Map

By Michael Aron

Depending on which side of the aisle you’re on the approved version of the legislative district map has either “met all of Dr. Rosenthal’s standards” according to Democratic co-chairman John Wisniewski or it has “problems in the areas of population deviation, north versus south proportionality, and will do less than the Republican map for minority groups” according to Republican co-chairman Jay Webber.  At the Senate level, the final map puts Democratic Senator John Girgenti of Hawthorne into Democrat Bob Gordon’s 38th district and it puts Republican Sean Kean of Wall Township into Lakewood Senator Bob Singer’s 30th district.
