Assembly Budget Committee Hearing on Transportation Issues

Democratic lawmakers grilled Transportation Commissioner Jim Simpson about the administration’s plan to borrow 4.4 billion dollars over the next five years. Starting with 1.18 billion in fiscal year 2112, Simpson explained the administration’s plan that includes some pay as you go over that period of time. However, Democrats questioned the amount of debt the state would incur at the end of the five year plan and whether voters should approve the borrowing.
