Black Dance Exhibit at Newark Public Library

By Desiree Taylor

The African dance performance by the 7th Principle Dance & Drum Ensemble was a fitting way to open the Newark Public Library’s Black Dance Exhibit.  This form of expression has endured and evolved over the years thanks to pioneers like Pearl Primus, Katherine Dunham, the Nicholas Brothers and many more who are featured in the show.  The exhibit also takes a look at the evolution of certain dances.
