Privatization and Protest at the Toll Booth

The NJ Turnpike Authority hosted a tour of the toll plaza for private contractors as part of a plan to privatize manual toll collections on the NJ Turnpike and Garden State Parkway.  The NJ Turnpike Authority’s request for proposal calls for a private company to staff 134 manual toll lanes on the turnpike and 34 on the parkway.  Union toll collectors voiced their opposition to this plan by protesting near the toll plaza.
