Newark Police Layoffs Versus Rise in Crime

 A spike in gun violence in Newark has sparked a war of words between the city and the police union.  Union leaders link the crime wave to the November layoff of 167 officers.  Newark’s mayor says the union is fear-mongering to gain public support for their cause.  They want those officers reinstated.  Meanwhile, Newark is experiencing an outbreak of murders and drive-by shootings.   One of the latest incidents involved a school bus.
