LGBT Suicide Prevention

At a UMDNJ-sponsored suicide prevention conference, in Somerset recently, the focus was on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered youth. According to Dr. Caitlin Ryan, a San Francisco social worker and national expert on suicide risk among LGBT youth, “there are a lot of kids who are struggling with suicidal thoughts and planning.” Dr. Ryan says supportive, accepting families make all the difference.
