Several Towns May Ask for Waivers on Property Tax Increase Cap to Help Pay for Blizzard Costs

Acting Governor Steve Sweeney has directed the governor’s chief counsel to begin assessing which counties will qualify for federal disaster aid due to the high cost of cleaning up after Sunday’s blizzard. Bill Dressel head of the State League of Municipalities says most towns will need federal assistance. Stranded vehicles still line the shoulders of the road on Interstate 195 as many areas continue to dig out from the massive snow storm.
