Centrastate Medical Center, in Freehold has spent 20 million dollars over the last decade to dispense with paper files and go digital. It is all part of a major effort to improve efficiency, cut costs and reduce medical errors. It helps with making sure the patients get the medication that’s ordered for them and the right doses. There are penalties for hospitals and medical offices that don’t become what the federal government calls meaningful users of electronic medical records by 2015.
