In a coordinated day of action, supporters of the ARC rail tunnel to Manhattan held a rally, and passed out leaflets urging Governor Christie to support the project under the Hudson River. Union workers held a rally at the tunnel construction site in North Bergen. Democratic US Senators Frank Lautenberg and Bob Menendez spoke to cheering crowds who would like to see the 6000 jobs the project will create go forward. Governor Christie says ARC could go $5 billion over budget. After threatening to kill it, he is currently reviewing that decision after a personal plea from US Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood.
