Camden May Lose One-Third of City’s Workforce

By Jerry Henry
In what is being described as a worst case scenario, Camden may be forced to layoff one-third of its workforce unless Mayor Dana Redd can garner more concessions from the unions representing the police, firefighters and city workers.  Those affected by the potential layoff are 150 police officers, 77 firefighters and approximately 150 other Camden employees.  Camden has requested 54 million in state aid.  A layoff plan must be filed with the state by October 15.
