St. Peter’s College in Elizabeth has established a Center for Microplasma Science & Technology (CMST) thanks to a $2 million grant for microplasma research. This is the first and only educational center devoted entirely to microplasma research in the nation. Microplasmas are tiny discharges of ionized gas that have the ability to clean contaminated air and water, sterilize medical equipment, allow for certain skin and dental treatments and provide resources for energy efficiency.
