BPU’s Controversial Move to Trenton

Assemblyman Chivukula is conducting a hearing to determine why the Board of Public Utilities is being relocated from Newark, where it has been for 99 years, to Trenton.  The Christie administration claims the move is being made to save money as office space in Trenton is less expensive than Newark and that the BPU should be closer to the seat of government in Trenton.  Approximately 200 employees work in Newark.
