Assembly Continues Examination of Tunnel Work Suspension

NJ Transit Executive Director Jim Weinstein confirms that state officials are considering defunding the Access to the Region’s Core project as a way to pay for other transportation projects. The admission came at today’s hearing of the NJ State Assembly’s Committee on Transportation, Public Works, and Independent Authorities. Governor Christie has suspended work on the Hudson River commuter rail tunnel amid growing concerns over the cost of the project. Democrats argue the ARC project will double rail capacity to NYC and are vital to the region.
