NJ Town Honors World’s First Female Director

Alice Guy Blache, from about 1896 to 1920, created hundreds of short films in France and New Jersey during a time when the only role for a woman was as a wife and homemaker. The French-born director followed the coterie of filmmakers and actors that saw great promise in the borough of Fort Lee, which some call the first Hollywood.
