Assembly Panel Holds Hearing on Use of State Police Helicopters

In his testimony before the Assembly panel, Colonel Rick Fuentes outlined how ten state police helicopters are used for search and rescue, medical evacuation, homeland security monitoring, and crime fighting. When the Governor wants to use one, Fuentes said, the executive protection unit at the statehouse calls the aviation unit, not the superintendent’s office. Fuentes thinks governors should use them more often.
