New Jersey Under Excessive Heat Watch

From every corner of the state, residents did their best to keep cool as the temperature climbed. The National Weather Service says it takes three consecutive days of temperatures over 90 degrees to make a heat wave. The health department is advising people to stay indoors in an air conditioned environment if possible, and warns that the elderly, sick and children are most at risk.
