Legislation Proposed to Reduce Water Main Breaks

The American Society of Civil Engineers gave North Jersey a D minus, the lowest grade possible, for its water system. That’s why the Sustainable Water Infrastructure Investment Act is being proposed by Congressman Pascrell and Senator Menendez. The problem, according to Menendez, is that the infrastructure is out-of-sight and out-of-mind, and maintaining it is often put on the back burner until there is a break and then it’s too late.
