Program SOAR, at New Pathway Counseling Services in Paramus, provides a two-pronged approach to fighting addiction that relies on exercise as well as talk therapy. Program participants come to New Pathway a minimum of three times a week for three hour sessions. They undergo a combination of exercise and psychotherapy, including group, family, and individual sessions. Dr. Frank Mattiace, a former N-F-L linebacker and the program’s creator and executive director, says the benefits of physical activity are well-known.
