The Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee hit State Treasurer Andrew Sidamon-Eristoff with tough questions about the Governor’s proposed 29.4 billion dollar state budget proposal for fiscal 2011. Democrats on the panel said the administration’s cuts to municipal and school aid and its decision to eliminate the property tax rebate last year drove double-digit property tax increases. Meanwhile, they say the current spending plan is disproportionately tough on the middle class and the poor.
