Master luthier Sam Koontz had hand-carved only 200 guitars before he died in 1981. Thirty-one of the rare guitars were discovered after Howard Krive, an avid guitar collector, passed away. Christopher Wylde, a family friend, has been working with Krive’s family to inventory and appraise the nearly 150 guitars in the collection.
