New Year Marked By Urban Violence

Only three days into the new year and there have already been several homicides and shootings reported in Newark. Union officials warned there would be a crime surge after 167 police were laid off about one month ago. Other law enforcement agencies, including the prosecutor’s office, state police and even the National Guard, have offered to help.
